Hi Everyone,

As I promised, I’ve been spending more time in the kitchen and trying to cook meals that are actually edible. Although I like to believe that I am a wonderful cook who can use my imagination while cooking, I have learned from many catastrophes that I should just follow the recipes that have already been tested and perfected. I found some great recipes on pbandkelly.blogspot.com, which was created by a friend of mine from my high school. Last week I cooked Stuffed Chicken and Cheesy Grits and it turned out great! It also reminded me of the delicious Southern foods that I devoured during my college days at the University of Alabama!

Since we are playing in Portland this week at Pumpkin Ridge for the Safeway Classic Presented by Coca-Cola, I am reminded of a funny story and I hope you will find it as amusing as I do. When I was 14-years-old, I told my mom that I wanted to play in the USGA Junior Girls’ Championship at Pumpkin Ridge, so she sent in the application for me. After the entry deadline had already closed, the application was returned to me because it had been rejected. My mom had not filled out the handicap portion of the application which made me ineligible for the qualifying tournament. I was extremely upset, so I asked my mom why she didn’t fill in my handicap and to this day I remember her exact words, “Handicap? Well Honey, there’s nothing wrong with you!” My mom obviously didn’t know much about golf at the time, but thanks to her, some good came from this incident. She helped me open my first bank account that same day and taught me how to write my own checks. I also started to manage my own tournament applications and schedule. This has, in turn, helped me to become a very organized and borderline OCD person. But most importantly, this story always makes me laugh and brings a smile to my face all the time. I love you, Mom!
